We can do it! Empowerment of women in the energy sector: W4RES Gender Seminar

On 27 March 2023, the Steinbeis Europa Zentrum organised a workshop on the empowerment of women in the energy sector as part of the W4RES project. W4RES is an EU-funded project with a duration of three years. It aims to increase women's participation in the market introduction and use of renewable heating and cooling solutions. This is to be achieved through replicable support measures that are being tested and validated in eight European countries.

Insight into the workshop at the Steinbeis Europa Zentrum

The aim of the workshop was to provide participants with tools to advance gender equality in energy sector companies. Despite adverse conditions due to a countrywide public transport strike, six participants from Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria met in Stuttgart on 27 March to discuss gender aspects in their organisations. The tools presented, for example a gender action plan, were introduced in short presentations, then discussed and used on fictional examples in groups to practise using them. This enables the participants to subsequently initiate change processes in their own organisations in a structured way. The exchange of experiences between the participants was also particularly valuable, the findings of which will be used by the W4RES project to develop political guidelines and recommendations for the inclusion of women to promote the market acceptance of renewable heating and cooling systems.
