AST-Smart platform

Coordinator of the project:
Ifigeneia Theodoridou

The concept of AST-SMART is to develop a software tool which will assess the needs of a city in terms of energy performance. The project is supported by EAP which is the Regional hub for Bulgaria.

AST-Smart platform is a powerful, web-based tool, that incorporates an innovative DSS (decision support system), which will accelerate developments concerning cities’ decarbonization, by boosting both the scientific community’s as well as the private sector’s involvement.

The AST-Smart project focuses on the development of an integrated mitigation and adaptation planning platform towards urban decarbonization. Appropriate scenarios will be developed and quantitatively modelled through a Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) approach. AST will incorporate advanced remote sensing technologies and EO, combined into a single Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS), into an easy-to-use platform. The platform will use developed SECAPs and respected methodological procedures, as introduced by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Covenant of Mayors office.

Against this background, along with the decarbonization at municipal level, AST-Smart can support the design of other qualitative measures such as the increase of public green spaces, vegetation and the large-scale implementation of Green Roofs, that can contribute to create healthier cities and living environments for European citizens.

EAP, W4RES's partner, offers support in the market research on the competitive tools and mainly supports them in the assessment of the financial tools for which they can apply to finance their idea/project.
